Surgeon General reports, 1898-1899.

Reports concerning the sanitary conditions faced by Ohio troops during Spanish-American War. Also notes medical and surgical supplies purchased for Ohio units noting quantity, date of purchase, who they were purchased from, and cost. Reports also describe hospital conditions and lists doctors and nurses working there. These medical personnel were part of the "Bushnell relief train" organized by Governor Asa S. Bushnell.

Born in Charleston, Massachusetts, David L. Huntington, 1834-1899, studied medicine at Yale and the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the army as an Assistant Surgeon in 1862. Huntington was Acting Medical Director Army of the Tennessee during Sherman's march to the sea in 1864. A career medical officer, Lt. Colonel Huntington at times served as acting Surgeon General.
